This summer, Matrix Academy Trust undertook significant refurbishment and improvement projects across its estate to enhance learning environments and modernise facilities. At Bloxwich Academy, the school hall received a comprehensive upgrade, transforming it into a more functional and inviting space for assemblies, performances, and various events. The reception area was also redesigned to offer a more professional and efficient welcome for visitors. As part of the ongoing improvements, works on the music and canteen toilets are scheduled to begin in September, further enhancing the school’s amenities. Additionally, a new dining canopy was installed in the canteen area, providing much-needed sheltered outdoor space for students during breaks and lunchtime.
At Wednesfield Academy, two key projects were completed. A new mezzanine level was constructed in the reception area, creating additional office space and a dedicated training room to support staff development. On the first floor, two new classrooms were added, increasing the school’s teaching capacity and allowing for future growth in student numbers.
Dame Elizabeth Cadbury saw the completion of Phase 1 of a major refurbishment. This included modernising staff and pupil toilets to improve hygiene and comfort, along with the renovation of the conference room, offices, and the Head of House Hub. These upgrades have not only enhanced the working environment for staff but also created more functional spaces for leadership and administrative teams to operate efficiently.
At Barr Beacon School, a comprehensive overhaul of the reception area was completed. This included the creation of new offices, a reprographics room, a meeting room, and toilet facilities, all designed to streamline daily operations. In addition, extensive tarmac resurfacing was carried out to improve the safety and accessibility of outdoor areas for both pupils and staff.
Across the Trust, further improvements were made with the upgrading of LED lighting and ceilings in corridors, aligning with our sustainability goals and improving the overall atmosphere within school buildings. These upgrades reflect Matrix Academy Trust’s commitment to continuously enhancing the learning and working environments for pupils and staff, ensuring our schools remain modern, efficient, and welcoming spaces.
