Schools across Matrix have been celebrating Pride Month. Although we work tirelessly to ensure Matrix schools are fully inclusive all year round, times like these are a chance to reflect on the past, celebrate the diversity of our school cultures and the society we live in today and plan for an even better future.

Wednesfield Academy welcomed charity Just Like Us to deliver talks as part of Pride month. The talks aimed to promote allyship for the LGBTQ+ community. They featured a diverse panel of speakers, including LGBTQ+ individuals, who shared their personal experiences and insights on supporting the community. Aimed at older students, the discussion covered the importance of understanding and respecting identities, the impact of visible and vocal support, and practical ways to be an effective ally. Having spoken to students, some now feel encouraged to make positive changes in their own lives and communities and it has further opened up discussion around inclusivity and LGBTQ+ rights.
