If you walk into any of our schools you will notice they have certain things in common. For instance, the uniforms, the pastoral structures, the behaviour systems. But we never standardise for the sake of it. Deciding what to ‘keep tight’ and what to ‘keep loose’ is something we think very carefully about. Each school also has its own personality, and this is something we encourage. Conversely, there’s no point reinventing the wheel. If one school has innovated something that could work in multiple contexts, we’ll happily share it across the trust.
Something we will never ‘keep loose’ is our expectations. You’ll find these are the same whichever Matrix school you visit. Quite simply: if it wouldn’t be good enough for children in our own families, it’s not good enough for our pupils.
